How much would a portrait of my cat cost?

The cost really depends on the type and size of the portrait chosen.  For example, a pastel portrait on cardboard takes less time to complete and uses less expensive materials than an oil painting on canvas.  Usually once I have seen the photo and we have discussed the medium to be used, a cost can be decided upon.

Do you paint from life, or can I send you a photo?

I prefer to work from photos.  A good quality close-up photo which shows the complete area required, for example the whole head if just a head portrait is required, is usually all I need to work from.

How long does it take to paint a portrait?

A pastel drawing (for example Sakima, Gucci and Bambi are all pastel drawings) usually only takes a couple of days.  Oil paintings can take from  8-12 weeks depending on the size of the painting and allowing for drying time of not only the oil paint, but also the protective coating used once the painting is dry.

Will my painting be framed?

It is entirely up to you to decide.  I can include a quote for professional framing at the time of ordering if requested.

Do you take orders from overseas?

All commissions will be considered.

Do you sell prints of your paintings?

Not usually as most of my paintings are personal commissions, however, I am able to have prints made if requested.

What happens if I don’t like the finished painting?

Dawn Packer Studio has an obligation free policy in the commissioning of artwork.  If you are not completely satisfied for any reason, there is no obligation to purchase the artwork. Dawn Packer Studio will retain the artwork to be offered for sale on the Dawn Packer Studio website.  The artist will retain full copyright of the work.
